The Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts (http://mccatheater.com) is a popular multicultural, multidisciplinary performing-arts complex sponsored by the city of Oakland, formerly known as the Alice Arts Center. A beautifully restored turn-of-the-century building, it’s one of Oakland’s busiest performing arts facilities. MCCA Theater has been serving the community dating back to the 1920s. The building includes a 350-seat theater, five dance studios, meeting rooms, rehearsal spaces, as well as several floors of low-income artist housing. Its theater and performance venues showcase music, theatre, ballet, African and contemporary dance, and more.
